Why HomeSeer?
"I got the HA bug in January 2000 and started evaluating as many software packages as I could find. I downloaded the trial of HomeSeer and was blown away by the ease of use to get started with the fundamentals and was also impressed with its capability to grow. All these years later and my HA install has definitely grown from those first few X0 modules but HomeSeer is still my choice for automation software."

Favorite HomeSeer Feature:
"Ability to monitor and control systems in the house remotely from any internet connection including my Blackberry as well as VR control from anywhere in the house or remotely by cell phone."

HomeSeer Implementation I'm Most Proud of:
"I'm most proud of my whole-house VR implementation. The sophistication of this system has grown over the years and I have learned a great deal to make it reliable. Mics are located in the walls of most rooms and digital outputs on the mic mixer allow HomeSeer to know which room you are speaking from. With this in place, VR commands can be simplified from "Turn Kitchen Lights On", to simply "Lights On". With mics and speakers located in each room this system can also act as a whole-house speaker phone. Audio from the TV and whole-house music system are also routed into the mic mixer and echo cancellation effectively removes these sounds so they don't interfere with VR."

Additional Technology:
PC Info:
Dell PowerEdge 2300, 1Ghz Pentium III, 1GB RAM, 136GB RAID5 SCSI Disks, DL7000 Tape Backup
Lighting:
"Using new generation Switchlinc switches on almost all interior and exterior lights. Lights are controlled by motion, door contacts, VR, RFID, Macros on Leviton DHC controllers and using Mainlobby on a 10" Airpanel."
Security:
"Security is automatically armed and disarmed with RFID technology. Motion Sensors & Door/Window contacts are connected to an ADI Ocelot and SECU16 modules. Many exterior doors and Gates are automated with Schlage electronic door locks and electronic door strikes."
Audio:
": Home grown 6-source, 3-zone distributed audio system using equipment from Russound A-Bus, Biamp, Bogen, Bose. Stereo speakers located in most interior rooms and mono music in Garage, Laundry and Yard. TTS Announcements automatically decrease the volume of any music playing and then slowly fade back to the original volume once the announcement is complete."
Other:
"RFID technology monitors occupancy and can tailor lighting, music, security, and personalized announcements/greetings depending on who is home. It can also automatically open the garage door as a vehicle or bicycle approaches."
