The Log screen is where everything that happens in HomeSeer is recorded. It logs all event activity as well as device activity. If you are troubleshooting some events that do not seem to be working properly, the log is an invaluable tool for seeing what's going on. The file that this information is recorded to is set in the General Setup screen.
The following information is logged, unless you disable that type of logging (click here for details on disabling specific types of logging information):
• All X10 signals seen on the power
line.
• All Z-Wave signals transmitted.
• All event triggers, no matter how they are triggered.
• All logins to the built-in web server. The
log includes the IP address of the host that logged in.
• All device actions performed via the web interface.
• All actions performed by scripts.
• All text-to-speech phrases (everything that HomeSeer says).
The Log screen can only be accessed from the computer on which HomeSeer is installed. To get to the screen, simply start HomeSeer; the interface will appear automatically as the program starts up. You can also get to this screen by right-clicking on the HomeSeer icon in the system tray and selecting View Event Log.
Click on the graphic below for more information on this screen. (Some of the information displayed in the screen below is for demonstration purposes only.)
Additional options appear when you right-click in the screen. The Clear Log option will erase all the information from the screen and in memory (it doesn't affect the information in the log file). The Copy option will copy information highlighted in this screen to the Windows® Clipboard so that it can be pasted into another program.
