While we’ve been primarily focused on Z-Wave devices over the years, the DS150ZB represents our commitment to making Zigbee a standard feature across our product lineup. This isn’t just about adding another sensor to our catalog – it’s about giving you more options and ensuring our ecosystem works with the devices you want to use. Our goal is to give you the flexibility to build your smart home with the protocols and devices that work best for your specific needs.
You’ve already seen this commitment with the Z-NET Pro‘s dual-network capability and the SmartStick ZB. The DS150ZB continues this trend, and we’re planning to expand our Zigbee offerings significantly over the coming years.
The DS150ZB: Reliable Door and Window Monitoring
The DS150ZB is designed to be a reliable door and window sensor you can count on. We know that door sensors often get installed in places that are hard to reach for maintenance, so reliability was our primary focus during development.
Key features include:
- Zigbee 3.0 compatibility for broad hub support
- 40% smaller than our DS100 Z-Wave door sensor
- Long battery life with dual CR1632 batteries
- Reliable contact detection for accurate door/window status
We’ve been testing these extensively in our own homes and offices, and the feedback from our team has been consistently positive. The significant size reduction compared to the DS100 makes it much more discreet on door frames, and the battery performance has exceeded our initial expectations.
This sensor works with any Zigbee 3.0 interface, including our Z-NET Pro (when it ships), SmartThings, Home Assistant, Hubitat, and others. For HomeSeer users, you’ll get support through HS4 with our Zigbee plugin.
The DS150ZB begins a new focus on product line clarity and standardization. You’ll notice the part number follows our new naming convention – DS for Door Sensor, 150 for the model series, and ZB to clearly indicate Zigbee connectivity. This makes it much easier to distinguish between similar products and know exactly what you’re getting.
Current Status and Availability
Production has already begun, and we expect to start shipping within the next two months. We’re being more conservative with our timeline estimates – we’ve learned that it’s better to under-promise and over-deliver than to create frustration with missed dates.
